This project focuses on a specific point in history which was The Easter rising which was an armed revolt in Ireland during the Easter Week, 29th of April 1916. It was from the first image that the title was born. The title conveys the meaning, the area of intervention, and the goal of the project while being captivating. The overall title of this project is ‘Scarred Shadows’. ‘Shadows’ refers to the people/souls from the past and history. ‘Scarred’ refers to the damage caused by these events and physical and metaphorical wounds that have not fully been healed, marks still can be seen on the man-made objects and can be felt by the people who had never forgotten the past. I wanted to create a linear narrative, a story with a beginning, middle, and end. The goal was to show the journey of these rebels and rebellion from the beginning to the end, their rise and fall. The images were changed from colour to monochrome to remove additional distractions within the images.
